Players bet on their predicted outcomes and all stakes go into a single pool. Winners share the pool. The odds are dynamic and depend on the number of participants and the amounts they wagered.

Safety

Kryptium uses the Ethereum blockchain network, to securely store players’ bets and funds.  Ethereum leverages advanced cryptographic technology and a proven decentralised architecture to safeguard information assets.

Transparency

All bets are placed and settled in a fully automated and transparent way based on Ethereum smart contract applications. These applications are practically immune to downtime, censorship, fraud or third-party interference. Their code is publicly available for review!

Simplicity

Players bet using an intuitive application available for Windows, macOS, Linux and soon for Android and iOS. The application abstracts and manages all complexity of blockchain mechanics, allowing players to focus on creating and seizing the best betting opportunities.

Extremely low commissions

Bookmakers and betting exchanges incur a lot of expenses for network and server infrastructure, software maintenance, experts calculating odds etc. Betting houses on the Kryptium platform do not pay for such costs and hence are able to charge a very low or even zero commission.

Player is king

Players are free to choose the betting house they will play with, the odds that suit them and the amounts they wish to wager. There are no limits like those imposed by traditional bookmakers and betting exchanges.

Become the house!

Roadmap – Any player will be able to launch their own betting house and publish their own events and outcomes on the platform. This will create a vast number of betting opportunities for other players and democratise the whole betting ecosystem.

Any cryptocurrency

Kryptium currently allows players to wager in Ether, the second most popular cryptocurrency in the market. Roadmap – ERC20-compatible tokens and cryptocurrencies of other blockchain networks will be supported through integration with major decentralised exchanges.

Privacy

Players do not have to open an account with a third party or provide Know-Your-Customer details. The only information that identifies them is the automatically produced address of their betting wallet. Roadmap – To protect players from tracking, the betting app will additionally provide support for anonymous communication via the open Tor network.

ARCHITECTURE

The Kryptium platform consists of 5 components:

Using the app, players can check upcoming events and very easily open, match or join bets. The app also allows users to select their favourite betting house and even upvote/downvote houses in order to help the community choose the best. In addition, it includes wallet functionality so that players can easily manage their betting funds without having to install complex, third-party wallets. The betting app is currently available for Windows, macOS, Linux and soon for Android and iOS. Roadmap – A simplified administration environment will be included to let any player deploy and manage their own oracle and house smart contracts. All administration functionality will be based on an API which will also enable integration with third-party systems for automated publishing of events and their outcomes.

An Ethereum application that allows publishing events and their outcomes on the blockchain. It can support events from various sectors, including sports, politics, e-sports, stock markets etc. Oracle smart contracts are independent from the rest of the platform, since they can be deployed by anybody and provide their event data to any other smart contract or app. Roadmap – Owners of oracle smart contracts will be able to transparently charge other users or smart contracts for the provided event data. Roadmap – This component will provide the betting app with additional rich metadata for registered events, such as images, descriptions and statistics. Due to cost- and performance-related reasons, Oracle storages will be off-chain and based on the IPFS network. The deployment of this component will be optional.

An Ethereum application which functions like an escrow agent for the players of any bet on the Kryptium platform. It registers bets, receives stakes and transfers funds to winners’ betting wallets based on the outcomes of the corresponding events. The “trusted source of truth” for all event data is an oracle smart contract. House smart contracts can be fully autonomous or managed and might charge a commission for their services. The “managed” version allows its owners to cancel bets which they might consider as “unfair”. Check the code

It functions as a “registry” of Kryptium-based houses on the Ethereum blockchain and keeps track of users’ upvotes/downvotes. Tracker smart contracts can be fully autonomous or managed. The “managed” version allows “controlled” registration of houses by the owner of the smart contract. The deployment of this component is optional. Check the code

Hassle-free deployment & management

Roadmap – The betting app will be extended to support easy deployment and management of oracle and house smart contracts and will also provide a simple interface for publishing and updating event data. The goal is to remove technical know-how limitations and enable all players to set up and maintain their own betting houses.

Ready for Ethereum-compatible networks

The Kryptium platform can be deployed on any Ethereum-compatible network, such as Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Avalance, Arbitrum, Optimism, Ethereum Classic, etc. The betting app already supports easy switching from the default (Ethereum) to other compatible networks.

SPORTS WEBSITES

When players use a house that relies on the oracle services of a sports website, the betting app will display ads from that website and/or a newsfeed that will redirect users to the website for more details. This way, sports websites can reach new audiences and increase their traffic, just by publishing sports event data they already have.

ONLINE BOOKMAKERS

Players who want to wager with their own odds, will avoid online bookmakers who usually provide less favourable odds in order to secure their profit. Hence, there is a clear opportunity for bookmakers to extend their offering for these players by setting up a betting house on the Kryptium platform. The Kryptium team can also provide bookmakers with a white-labelled version of the betting app or even betting middleware for those who want to build their own user interface.

OFFLINE BOOKMAKERS

There are many sports events and competitions that attract betting activity but are not available for online betting due to small market size or difficulties in obtaining event data. Offline bookmakers, who are active in these betting markets, can use Kryptium to take their business online and expand their customer base at a very low cost.

DATA SERVICE PROVIDERS

Kryptium’s voting functionality will obviously favour betting houses that use oracle services by well-known and trusted entities. Established data service providers have the chance to create new revenue streams by launching an oracle service on the Kryptium platform. Houses that use the service will automatically pay the fee defined in the oracle smart contract.

FINANCIAL OPTIONS BROKERS

Trading financial options is subject to various regulations and, in some cases (e.g. binary options), it can be limited to small amounts or even prohibited. Financial options brokers can rely on Kryptium’s decentralised architecture to bypass all limitations and provide their customers with unlimited trading opportunities. To simplify deployment, the Kryptium team can also provide dedicated betting middleware which will enable brokers to seamlessly extend their online trading platforms.

E-SPORTS COMMUNITIES

Although the e-sports market has greatly evolved in the last years, online betting solutions are covering a very small percentage of e-sports championships. Kryptium enables any e-sports community to draw further attention to its activities by publishing all events and outcomes on the blockchain or even setting up a dedicated betting house with very low or zero commission.

You will need to select the “pay me!” button for the bet you won and your winnings will automatically be transferred to your betting wallet, usually within 30 to 60 seconds depending on the load of the Ethereum network.

The betting app automatically creates an Ethereum account for you for all betting-related transactions. However you will need to transfer some Ether to it from another Ethereum account. This can be an account in your cryptocurrency wallet or an account on an online cryptocurrency exchange. The latter is a simpler option for players who are not familiar with cryptocurrencies.

Yes. You will need to download the version of the betting app that is compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS or Linux).

Not yet. We have planned to produce a secure web version of our betting app in the first half of 2020.

For every betting transaction (e.g. opening or matching a bet), you will pay a transaction fee (in Ether) for using the Ethereum network. The fee depends on the type of transaction and is usually worth a few USD cents. The betting app will provide all information and handle the payment process on your behalf.

The betting house you choose to play with might also charge a commission on your payouts. Due to the low cost of running a house on the Kryptium platform, you can expect the commission to be very low or even zero!

Yes, but you will need to wait for the version 2.1 of the platform where we will introduce support for multi-player bets. Acting as a bookmaker will require you to open a multi-player bet (with your chosen odds) for every outcome you want players to bet on. Keep in mind though that players will always have the option to choose somebody else’s odds for the same outcome (if available) or even open their own bet with their own odds.

You can set the odds for the head-to-head and multi-player bets that you open.

The result of every bet is automatically calculated by the house smart contract which is an Ethereum application that functions like an escrow agent for the players of any bet on the Kryptium platform. You can check the How it works – for the tech-savvy section for more details.

They are cryptocurrencies that are based on the Ethereum blockchain and conform to the specifications of the ERC20 standard. These cryptocurrencies are managed by Ethereum smart contracts (applications) which follow a common way for the implementation of all possible transactions.

Kryptium is a decentralised platform and there is no entity which holds fiat (i.e. “traditional”) currency or any other assets. All transactions are currently in Ether and the amounts you wager are escrowed by smart contracts, i.e. applications that run on top of the Ethereum platform. Therefore you can only withdraw your winnings in Ether (or, in the future, other cryptocurrencies). However, we have planned to simplify the conversion of Ether to fiat currency through partnerships with major cryptocurrency exchanges. This will allow Kryptium players to withdraw their winnings directly to their credit/debit card or bank account from within the betting app.

Absolutely not! Using the betting app, does not require players to provide Know-Your-Customer details or go through approvals of any kind. Your only id is the address of your betting wallet which is automatically produced when you first open the betting app.

The latest version of the Kryptium app uses the Avalance Testnet (Fuji) as the default blockchain network
 
You can switch back to Ethereum via “Settings > Choose Another Network” but note that the event data feed of the default betting house is temporarily disabled due the high transaction fees of the Ethereum network.
You can get free Avalance (AVAX) testnet tokens from the official faucet at https://faucet.avax.network/.

  1. Install or configure the app:
    • Windows: Run the .exe file you downloaded to install the app. Ignore the warning “The publisher could not be verified”.
    • macOS: Run the .dmg file you downloaded to install the app. Depending on your security settings, this may prompt a pop-up with an error message which says that it can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store. In that case you will need to do the following:
      • Click “OK”. This will close the pop-up window.
      • Open the Apple menu. Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
      • Click System Preferences. This option is near the top of the drop-down menu.
      • Click Security & Privacy. It’s near the top of the System Preferences window.
      • Click the lock icon. It’s in the bottom-left corner of the window.
      • Enter your password, then click Unlock. This will allow you to edit items in this menu.
      • Click Open Anyway. It’s next to your file’s name.
      • Click Open when prompted. Doing so will open your file and continue with the installation.
    • Linux: Assign the execute permission to the .AppImage file.
  2. Launch the app and open the “My Money” section by clicking the “coins” icon on the top right.
  3. Find your betting wallet address and select “copy”.
  4. Open your desktop or online wallet and transfer some Ether to your betting address. If you don’t have any Ether click here.
  5. Wait for the transfer to complete and…

You are ready to bet!

You can easily buy Ether from any of the major cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, Kraken and transfer it from your online wallet to your betting wallet.
